NFL Week 13
December 2nd, 2006
Sunday 1:00
Rams @ Arizona(+6.5)
I just don’t believe in the Cardinals.
Lions @ New England(-13.5)
I fully expect the Pats to win, but that’s too many points.
Niners @ New Orleans(-7)
San Francisco has actually been playing pretty well lately, so I’m going to take these points and hope they keep it close.
Vikings @ Chicago(-9)
Well, the Vikings are terrible, but the Bears have been a little iffy lately so again, I think this is too many points; Bears win by like five, but not nine.
Chiefs @ Cleveland(+5)
The Browns are a joke, give the points.
Falcons @ Washington(-2)
Atlanta is in a tailspin, finger-pointing (of course, at the crowd) and all. Can’t be a good thing, I’ll go with the Redskins.
Jets @ Green Bay(+1.5)
My attempt to curse the Jets last week didn’t work, so perhaps they’ve turned an important corner. I’ll actually pick them thinking they’ll cover!
Colts @ Tennessee(+7.5)
Indy will do just enough to win and nothing more, so this is again too many points.
Sunday ~4:10
Raiders @ Houston(+3)
The Raiders are favored on the road? Hey, that’s some pretty serious disrespect for the Texans. I’ll take the points, thanks much.
Jaguars @ Miami(-1.5)
Two teams headed in opposite directions right now, I’ll take the more southern of the two Florida cities.
Cowboys @ New Jersey Giants(+3.5)
Speaking of teams going in opposite directions, yikes. I don’t see how the spread isn’t bigger, but I’ll happily agree to give a mere 3.5.
Bucs @ Pittsburgh(-7)
Uhh, yeah, this one makes no sense at all–but then, that’s what I said about the Bengals game. Still, I don’t see the Steelers blowing out anyone, even if it is the Bucs. Go Tampa!
Sunday NBC
Seahawks @ Denver(-3)
So far my rule this season has been Denver at home, but not on the road. However, Denver will be starting a rookie and the Seabags should have all the rust off, so I’ll take the points.
MNF
Panthers @ Philly, no line
How is this no line? Well, if I’m picking these two teams straight up, I have to take Carolina over the McNabb-less Iggles, right?

Rams @ Arizona(+6.5)
A battle of my two favorite coaches, Dennis Green and Jim Haslett (the DC who’s up to his old tricks with the media). The Rams can’t stop the run, but luckily for them Arizona has no running game, even with Edge. I see a relatively high scoring game with the Rams winning by more that 7.
Lions @ New England(-13.5)
The Lions are done. NE in a rout.
Niners @ New Orleans(-7)
San Francisco has been playing well, but as long as Brees doesn’t throw a pick in the end zone, the Saints will win by at least a touchdown.
Vikings @ Chicago(-9)
Chicago’s at home and it’s time for the pendulum to swing back to a huge Grossman game. Give the points.
Chiefs @ Cleveland(+5)
As long as the Browns players are fighting each other, they don’t stand a chance – especially with a crappy run defense against Larry Johnson. Chiefs.
Falcons @ Washington(-2)
Must win for the Falcons, and after four straight losses, it’s time to win one. The Redskins have no shot and Jason Campbell won’t be another Brady, or Big Ben. Falcons.
Jets @ Green Bay(+1.5)
Go Gang Green! As long as their DB’s are paying attention they should be able to grab a couple of picks.
Colts @ Tennessee(+7.5)
Or could it be an outright loss? The Titans are playing inspired football, and they last time they played, the Colts barely squeaked one out. Should be a fun game. Titans.
Sunday ~4:10
Raiders @ Houston(+3)
The Texans have a dismal running game and the Raiders have the best pass defense in the league. All the Raiders will need is one touchdown and they should cover.
Jaguars @ Miami(-1.5)
I like getting points in this matchup. I’ll take the Jaguars and Garrard over any team and Harrington. He got his big win over the Lions. Watch the Jags defense totally flumoxx him. He’ll be sacked 3 or 4 times.
Cowboys @ New Jersey Giants(+3.5)
Gotta go with the Cowboys based on how these teams are playing. The Cowboys have NO INJURIES reported, what’s up with that? I expect the Giants to play well, but unless Romo totally turns back into a rookie, the Cowboys should win.
Bucs @ Pittsburgh(-7)
Well, this is the time last year that the Steelers stepped it up and won it all. But no Ward and no Polamalu mean they’ll have trouble. I’ll take the points.
Sunday NBC
Seahawks @ Denver(-3)
Expect a carefully managed game with Cutler – which means lots of running – which means a Denver win.
MNF
Panthers @ Philly, no line
Without McNabb, the Panthers should be able to win by one, even in Philly.

I don’t see San Diego at Buffalo (+6) on your list. I believe the key in this game is the return of “Needles” Merriman. That means a long day for Lossman. Will the cold be a factor? Probably not.

Ack, yeah, I forgot that game. I had the Chargers. Oh, well.

LT went wild, but Buffalo hung tough. Interesting.
