post Mac vs. PC on price

I wouldn’t go so far as to say that this is definitive, but this piece has a really interesting analysis of the price of a top-tier system. Of course, how many people really need such a system? But interesting nonetheless.

  1. I bought a first generation Mac Mini, and I like it and all, but it’s ridiculous to think that I couldn’t have gotten a more powerful PC for the same money. It’s not even close! But, I am getting the nifty form-factor and OSX and all that Apple cachet we love so well.
Once you start talking high-end servers, the value of the cachet drops away (they’re usually stuck in server rooms, after all) and they have to compete more on price.
