- Cy and Adam T. Woods started the band in the mid '70's
- They met whan Cy was 14. Adam had married Cy's older sister
- Harrow (the white horse)
- Harrow was a circus horse trained to fall when his butt was slapped
- Harrow's trainer stood off screen and slapped him with a long stick
- The concept: Cy plays an Englishman in '82 imagining himself in WWII
- England was at war with the US in '82

- The director found it challenging to "Recreate WWII with 5 people"
- The cold February winds bothered the band--it was freezing
- Harrow's "wind" also bothered them--the horse farted constantly
- This was the Fixx's 1st single from their debut album
- What British Commonwealth band won the best new artist Grammy in '82
- Men at Work
- Cy wrote this song the morning after getting in a car crash
- The lyrics protest the British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher's
military policies
- The video was protested by the BBC--they banned it for cruelty to
annimals
- 1 month after the video was shot Thatcher sent 2000 Royal Marines to
South America
- The British stood up to Argentina's military junta in the Falkland
Islands
- The junta fell
- The BBC ban stood--this video never aired in Britan
- The Fixx were originally called the Fix
- Their record label made them add another "X" to avoid "the drug
connotation"
- Jim Fixx helped popularize jogging in the '80's with the Complete
Book of Running
- Fixx's run ended in '84--he died of a heart attack while jogging
- The Fixx's chart run ended 2 years later after 4 to 20 singles
- They continued releasing singles untill '91 -but they all "tanked"
- Cy says the '80's tought him one valuable lesson:
- "Nothing lasts Forever"
- The Fixx still stand--they continue to play concerets to their
long time fans known as "Fixxtures". They took a break in '92 to start
families and Cy started a hat'making business. The band's 10th album
Happy Landings landed in stores in 1998.
