Here's a little blurb on the history of Walkabout. This came from the Fixx FTP site (thanks, Glen).

Dear Fixxture,

Okay, so we finally have a release date on the new FIXX album. To fill you in on what's been happening over the last year I'll give you a brief summarisation.........

July : The FIXX go into the Farmyard studio to start work on their new album having spent the previous six months writing and demo-ing (and fitting in a quick tour of Japan. Helloooo Tokyoooo.)

Rupert Hine is again at the controls, Stephen Tayer and Andy Scarth mixing and ably assisting.

The summer passes and autumn sees "Walkabout" first draft. As with previous albums a period of digesting brings forth fresh ideas and presently Cy is winging his way back to the U.K. from the U.S. - where he seems to be spedning most of his time these days - and back to Buckinghamshire.

More tracks, some new ones and bits of re-recording and the sound of sleigh bells are heard in the tiny village of Little Chalfont, Bucks.

A short diversion took the FIXXes to a dingy club in the heart of London and a contribution to "Carol Aid".

January, and we are waiting for MCA to return from the festivities and tell us they loved/hated the album when the post-crimble boredom is shattered by Adam presenting Jamie with a new lyric - for those of you who've been folling the FIXX story you'll realise this act was without precedence, no one even knew Adam could spell his name let alone write a song.

Before you could say "Portastudio" the two were sitting in rooms making chords fit with melodies and writing not one but two songs.

Wall Street is abuzz as the news spreads.......shares in Panam begin to rise as Cy's cab nears JFK airport.

Back at the Farmyard Rupert Hine, dragged from his bed, manages to squeeze in another week or so between his own project and someone else's to do some re-mixing and record "Chase The Fire".

Spring, after a chilly February, and the new FIXX album is given the go ahead.

Called "Walkabout" the album will be released in America and Europe on May 14th whist the first single "Secret Separation" is scheduled for April 30th.

We've included a complete track listing and biog with this letter and will keep you posted regarding tour plans as they develop.

Thanks again for your support and correspondence.

Kind regards

The Fixx Biography

There were no whispers in the air the time I saw keyboard player Rupert Greenall and singer Cy Curnin striding down Kings Road. No heards turned when drummer Adam Woods met me in a North London pub. Jamie West-Oram might get a little recognition in this country but it would probably be for his guest role in Tina Turner's backing band on her last tour rather than for his own considerable achievements as guitarist in one of Britain's most innovative and strikingly individual groups. Across the Atlantic The Fixx have had million selling albums, top 5 singles and number one radio and TV playlisting. In their homeland they are virtually complete unknowns.
