NFL Week 14

OK, so been way long since we’ve had an update on the records:

Mike Al
old 69-69-6 67-76-6
week 11 4-11-1 9-6-1
week 12 11-3-2 9-5-2
week 13 5-11 5-11
total 89-94-9 85-98-9

So… we both suck, and it’s close. Maybe next year I’ll just flip a coin all year, sheesh. On to this week.

Sunday, 1:00
Falcons @ Tampa(+3)
Good to see the Falcons with some life again, though I think Tampa’s packed it in. I’ll give the points.

Raiders @ Cincinnati(-11)
You know, the Raiders have actually been pretty impressive against the spread this year. I know the Bengals have looked good lately, but I think this is too many points.

Eagles @ Washington(+1.5)
I have no idea. I think the Redskins are horrible, but I’m not thrilled by the Eagles, either. I guess I have to like Garcia over that rookie, though, right? Whatever, sure, give the points.

Giants @ Carolina, no line
The Panthers are completely befuddling. They look so much worse than they should be, and the Giants are getting healthier. With no line, I say Giants.

Vikings @ Detroit(-2.5)
How are the Lions favored, even at home? I don’t see it.

Colts @ Jacksonville(+1.5)
If I’m the Jags, I run the ball on nearly every down and I bet it works. Man, I hope someone on the Jags has the same idea, because I’m picking them.

Ravens @ Kansas City(-3)
Even in Arrowhead, I can’t take the Chefs–too damn inconsistent. Gotta love getting points here.

Titans @ Houston(-1.5)
Again, even at home, I don’t see how the Texans can possibly be favored against a team which seems to have it together right now.

Patriots @ Miami(+3.5)
The Dolphins were exposed last week, and I’m sure the Pats will have seen the film. Give the points.

Sunday, ~4:10
Seahawks @ Arizona(+3)
I think Seattle is back enough to handle this.

Packers @ San Francisco(-4.5)
The Niners are just better, I’ll give the points.

Bills @ New Jersey Jets(-4)
Buffalo has been great against the spread lately, but they’re nicked up and the Jets are rolling, so I’ll give the points.

Broncos @ San Diego(-7.5)
Feh. I’m not taking Denver on the road.

Sunday NBC
Saints @ Dallas(-7)
The Saints have been a great story, but Dallas looks like a team on a mission right now, and in big D, I think I have to give the points.

MNF
Bears @ St. Louis(+6.5)
Even if Grossman has a QB rating under 10, the Bears will cover this–the Rams are just awful.

One thought on “NFL Week 14”

  1. Wow, great week 12! Still pretty close, though. And oh those crazy bowl games…

    Sunday, 1:00
    Falcons @ Tampa(+3)
Falcons will continue their rebound. The key game is against Dallas (assuming they win this one).

    Raiders @ Cincinnati(-11)
I like Cincinnati to light it up here. The Raiders have a great D but eventually you have to lose heart, right? I mean, c’mon. Just collect your paycheck and go home.

    Eagles @ Washington(+1.5)
I’ll take Westbrook vs. Washington. Eagles

    Giants @ Carolina, no line
Delhome won’t be playing (likely) and has a strained thumb, so in any case, Giants should win.

    Vikings @ Detroit(-2.5)
Looks like Brad Johnson will be riding pine this week. I think that’s why Detroit is favored. I’ll take the Lions against an unproven backup or against a bad team with a public QB controversy.

    Colts @ Jacksonville(+1.5)
The Colts will figure out how to win this one. I’ll give the points.

    Ravens @ Kansas City(-3)
I can’t see how the Ravens will generate any offense. I have to take the Chiefs at home in a must-win for the Chiefs (just sort of a “really-want-to-win” for the Ravens).

    Titans @ Houston(-1.5)
The Titans are a much better team now than earlier in the season. I just have to take the points.

    Patriots @ Miami(+3.5)
I’ll take Miami and the points. The Patriots will stumble here while Miami is desperate for a win.

    Sunday, ~4:10
    Seahawks @ Arizona(+3)
Arizona played great last week. I’ll take them with the 3 points at home.

    Packers @ San Francisco(-4.5)
The Niners are just better, I’ll give the points.

    Bills @ New Jersey Jets(-4)
GO J-E-T-S! Do I see playoffs for the holidays?

    Broncos @ San Diego(-7.5)
The last time they played was a fantastic game where the Denver defense got worn out and simply couldn’t stop them in any drive in the fourth quarter. I don’t see why this will be any different — except maybe they won’t be able to stop them in any quarter. Chargers.

    Sunday NBC
    Saints @ Dallas(-7)
I love getting the points. Brees needs to play great, though.

    MNF
    Bears @ St. Louis(+6.5)
The Rams appear to have given up. The Bears would be advised, however, to run against this Haslett-run defense.
